A Life of Simplicity

Why do all good things come to an end in my lifetime?

I went to Barnes & Noble today. I noticed that the book shelves are slowly disappearing. One of my favorite simple pleasures is going to B&N and reading all day. It's even better when a friend meets me there. We sit in the cafe with a stack of books and magazines, drink coffee or tea, eat scones or cookies and chat for hours. I usually buy a book or two also. Reading a book on the computer just isn't the same.

  1. I know what you mean, Brenda. I do think one day there won't be anymore book stores. A few years ago I never would have thought that! Sad...there's nothing quite like holding a book in your hands!

  2. I think we have much in common --see my recent post about Poets House in Manhattan!(on elizabethwix.com)
Reading is one of my biggest joys!
I'm off to check the dog's blog!

  3. When my son was younger, one of our favorite things to do together was go out to lunch at McDonald's (Happy meals!) then go to Borders where I would read books to him. Now the Border's store in our area is in the process of closing. So sad...many happy memories there!

  4. While I think the idea of having an e-reader is cool, nothing will take the place of a real book in my hands. I love B&N:)
